Been working on fitting a character into my superhero story but it hasn’t been going to plan
So, in short it’s basically inspired by DC teen titans in the way that there’s both magic and people who have powers in there genes and what I’m specifically working on is my main team of teen heroes.
I’ve realised one of my characters is really weak compared to everyone else and have realised I don’t know how to incorporate her.
While the others have powers or abilities…all she does is make bombs. I really love her and I want to be able to incorporate her but I need a good power that relates to explosions without just making her have the exact same powers as Bakugo from MHA.
Her name is Donika. Her lore starts with her parents backstory. Her white father was born into a white power cult, leaves and falls in love with the first black woman he sees since in the cult he had only seen illustrations of black people and not actual photos. Her mother was African-American specifically and worked as a barista, serving Donika’s father his first drink. Her father begins working as a blue collar demolitionist. Later the company is taken over by a villain and the demolitionists are forced to demolish places around town with wrecking balls. So Donika’s father was held at gunpoint and when the gunman told him to head to the bar to demolish it, he fights back and yadayada. They start dating shortly after and Donika is born.
I just don’t know how to balance her when I’ve got other characters on the team who are considerably op.
For example:
Leader: capable of seeing and communicating with ghosts in her everyday life, hires ghosts as scouts to monitor villains, in payment she helps them complete their unfinished business as long as it’s not unethical.
Member 1: asthmatic dude with superspeed (it was a gag that developed really well) he uses skates so he can take a break to use his inhaler while still being on the move.
Member 2: stereotypical super strength dude
Member 3: magic imp from hell who made a deal with Persephone to be her disciple, trying to help her get out of hell. (Based on the pomegranate story)
And there’s many others. I don’t want to sideline Donika so I need ideas.
