Hi everyone,

I’m applying for a UK Standard Visitor Visa, and I have a question about how to declare my income correctly.

I work as a public school teacher. My situation is as follows:

  • I have a fixed monthly salary (stated on my payroll and bank statements)
  • In addition, I receive “extra lesson payments” from the government (also stated in my payroll and bank statements). These are not fixed and vary each month.
  • Sometimes these payments are also paid in a different month than they are calculated, so there are timing differences between my payroll and bank statements.

In the application form:

  • I declared my fixed salary as my monthly income.
  • I declared my extra lesson payments as “additional income” on a yearly basis.

I also explained in my cover letter that this income varies monthly and may be paid in subsequent months.

My question is, is this the correct way to declare variable income, or should I instead combine everything and give an average monthly income?

Thanks in advance!
