WarGaming: these are some pretty lazy gold offers as usual.

  • SU-130PM
  • Char MLE
  • Obj 703 (II)
  • TS-5

Two of them are bond tanks permanently available in the bond store.

The third is available in every single trade-in, and offered at a discount when the player finishes Tank Academy.
The fourth has been sold umpteen times this year and is also offered at a discount when the player finishes Tank Academy.

At this point gold is like food stamps.
Any new tanks or older ones that players want are always available for cash only and we get these same tired, recycled old offers over, and over again for gold.

Tank Nerds: which existing tanks will be hardest hit by the new German heavy line?

So the German heavy line's new ability lets you improve your normalization and ricochet angles.

I'm assuming tanks that rely on crazy armor angles rather than simple armor thickness will be the worst affected: such as Coccodrillo, Strv and the new SU-122V.

Any others that should be worried? Which tanks will be particularly hard hit by this new ability?

How good/bad is the Chi-Go from missions?

If it were tier VIII I wouldn't be asking this, but tier VII is already somewhat niche.
Is this thing a solid medium, or mediocre?
I'm currently comparing it to the Panther M/10 and it doesn't compare very favorably, especially considering that the M/10 will never see a tier IX and the Chi-Go will.

It's still a good deal and I'll definitely be grinding it out on my main account -- simply doing your dailies should easily get you there.
But would any of you spend the time to grind this out on an alt?

Awwwhhh Maaaaaan.... I thought the Pz. B2 was just a reskinned German B1.

I was so stoked to get it because the French B1 is one of my absolute favorite tier IVs.

And then I realized that the Germans $%#@ed up every single aspect of the B1.
Literally every single stat.

100 less health (w/hardening - at tier IV this is huge), less alpha, 32% less pen, worse aimtime, worse dispersion, worse camo, worse power/weight. It even has 200 less radio range of the B1 despite having two radiomen. WTF are those two radiomen even doing?

This thing is a steaming pile of s**t.

Quick Q for hulldown tank enthusiasts.

Would you buy the WZ-111 6 if you already have the Tornvagn and T-832?
What does it bring to the table that these do not?

Please, anti-monetization folk spare me the lectures. Other than $8/mo for Amazon Prime this is basically the only 'entertainment' I spend money on, so while I think tanks are overpriced, $30 for a tank that I will play for hundreds of hours is justifiable even for a poor schmuck like me.

Tank Nerds: are the historic tanks in WoT *roughly* to scale?

Hey folks,

Are the tanks in WoT roughly to scale?
I don't mean the fantasy tanks, or the strange ones that simply existed in blueprints or long extinct prototypes, but the ones that we can actually measure.

For example is the scale of an M4 Sherman, Tiger I, IS-3, M5 Stuart, Maus, etc correct in relation to each other?

Has anyone figured out what today's Twitch Drop was?

It was this morning, for 180 minutes of watch time.
There are no notifications ingame of receiving anything, and it's not 1 day of premium time.
WTF is it?

Please don't burn me at the stake: Arty questions.

Hey folks,

I have a friend who is a big military buff, has seen me play WoT a few times and is interested in the game.
But here's the catch: he's a combat amputee and literally has one arm (I'm not kidding - this isn't a tasteless arty joke).
He has a prosthetic that's not too functional, and I tried teaching him how to control a tank in Topology mode but it's just not working out - even in a bushwanking TD he's just going to get brutally farmed.

So I thought maybe arty would be a good fit for him?

I've never played arty in my life though, so before I recommend that he try it I have some questions:

  • can you literally play arty with one hand? at most with the prosthetic he can poke a spacebar or something.
  • he's on disability and doesn't have much money (luckily there's no premium arty anymore). Is arty profitable enough on a standard F2P account to 'sustain' itself at a positive credit balance? I don't want to get him hooked on some money-sink bullshit.
  • how to start? are low tier SPGs as bad as they look? is grinding out an entire arty line a miserable experience? would it help if I helped him along by grinding out the free tier VI token from Tank Academy?
  • which arty line would you recommend for a complete 100% WoT noob? American?
  • is something like World of Warships also an option?

Please have some empathy before downvoting me into oblivion for asking an arty question.
Thanks in advance!

Cheers

Has iyouxin recently made Youtube tutorials *paid* content or is this a region thing?

Morning folks,

I was just trying to help someone by recommending some Tiger-Maus tutorials and I noticed iyouxin's recent Tiger-Maus - the best tier IX premium in the Bond Store video requires you to join the channel at a minimum $4.49 subscription to see it.

Is he starting to switch some of his tutorial videos to paid content now? Or is this a regional thing?

I swear I've watched this video a few times before and I have never subscribed to a Youtube channel in my life.
There's no way I'm paying $4.49-29.99 a month for a single Youtube channel.

Your nomination for the worst Tier VIII in existence.

Hey folks.

I was reading another thread where someone was saying ".....in capable hands the tank can perform".

"In capable hands". O_o

Well yeah, a SuperUnicum could farm most of us in the absolute worst tier VIII in the game.
But that got me thinking: which is the worst Tier VIII in the game?

Please nominate what you think it is. Tech Tree, Premium, Collector's, whatever.

Does anyone here have experience with both the Obj 703(II) *and* 252U Defender?

Hi folks,

The Obj 703(II) is currently my 'drunk tank': it's the ideal tank to play if you've had too many vodkas. In fact the more sober I am the worse I typically play with the 703(II) (fun fact: the Soviets actually issued vodka to their tank crews so these were intended to be operated by drunk people -- I do it for the historical accuracy!). I make much more aggressive plays and get right into enemies' faces, and in the raw panic and confusion I bounce a lot more than you'd expect.

I just got an offer for 50% off on an Obj 252U Defender which was on my list of tanks to buy -- in fact this looks like the epitome of the Soviet vodka-powered tank.

Does anyone have experience with both of these vehicles? I see that the gun - particularly the stabilization - on the 252U is notoriously troll, but the armor profile looks even more idiot-proof for brawling. Should I pick it up, or is the slightly improved hull armor not worth the significantly worse gun handling? I'm kindof torn. If this were 5 years ago I'd jump on the Defender like a fat kid on a cupcake, but it's 2026 and power creep is real. I am worried that the Defender isn't as foolproof anymore and will just be a sluggish cow that can't hit anything beyond point blank range.

***EDIT***
BTW how does the Udarniy fit into this equation?

Does anyone know where I can order Stainless 1" NPT XL barbs?

Preferably in Canada but I will order them from the US if I have to.

This is for the 1" PE pipe inlet from a well pump. All I can find in both local shops and online are short barbs with ~3 ridges. I called my local plumbing supply and they haven't even heard of long barbs.

Apparently everyone just uses the short ones here, but I'm very hesitant to use a short barb for high-pressure PE since if it slips off at any point it will cause tens of thousands of dollars of damage. I'd rather just spend a bit more time sourcing the proper parts.

Ideally I need a 1" NPT - 1" male barb, and a male-male barb. Any help is appreciated - thank you in advance!
Cheers

A couple quick questions about fittings, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi folks,

I am replacing the line to the left of the pressure tank tee, and I'd like to simplify this and take out as much of the galvanized as I can.
I have a couple of questions:

  • Why is there a coupling and galvanized nipple between the 1" check valve and the tee? If it's all 1" NPT can't I just thread the brass check valve directly into the brass tee?
  • Why is there a galvanized union in this setup? The water supply is in a 1" PE pipe attached to a 1" galvanized barb fitting. Why add a union here? If I want to disconnect in the future I can just pull the PE pipe off the barb. Seems this guy just added fittings for the sake of it (there are TWO check valves right beside one another).
  • Are there any issues with using 304 stainless barbs with this setup? Will I get galvanic corrosion with the brass or is this an almost insignificant issue?

Thanks in advance!!
Cheers

Monday morning when you're hoping to see a meta tank in the weekly offers...

...and you're greeted by the TBT and Nemesis.

(ok, the LT-432 is good -- but lights aren't for everyone and it's quite common in the Personal Gem offers for ~6k gold).

Hopefully without devolving into flame wars, how would you categorize the skill level of the popular WoT CCs?

Not a personality or loyalty contest: you may not personally like a streamer or think they are annoying/an arrogant c**t/whatever, but you can still objectively appreciate their WoT skills.

Please try to separate personality from skill. For example, no matter how you feel about Mike Tyson as a human being you simply have to acknowledge that he was an incredible boxer.

I'm genuinely curious since I've only been around for 8 months so I'm not in any position to judge someone's skill -- and I've only watched a small portion of streamers. Naturally I will still watch 'less-skilled' streamers both because some may be nicer people, more entertaining, or more relevant to my current skill level... but I'd love to know which ones are widely considered the most skilled players.

So how would you objectively rate the WoT skill level of common streamers like Iyouxin, QB, Dakillzor, MaxGamingFPS, Kajzoo, GermanIntelligence, Talkto_MeGoose, GodPack, Orzanel, Cyganzor, DezGamez, Mouzakrobat, Fr3ddy, Mailand, etc etc etc etc?

What would your list look like?
IE:

SuperUnicum
Unicum
Above Average/skilled
Average
Semi-Tomato but Entertaining/Loveable

To Grind or Not to Grind... that is the Question.

Good day folks,

I have a philosophical question for you. Please don't let this devolve into arguments, there really are no right or wrong answers. I'm just really interested in hearing everyone's own personal outlook on this.

I've ground out most of the Special BattlePass tanks like the Zwilling, H3, Predatore.
While I was deep in grindmode I pretty much lost track of the hours -- I do know that I had to religiously do all of my dailies no matter how difficult, and I had to spend most of the weekend grinding like a madman. I actually ground out the Zwilling and Predatore on both my EU and NA accounts. As many of you well know, someone who has been subjected to WoT Randoms and RNG for 12+ hours straight is not pleasant to be around.

Then someone posted a Calculator that lets you track your progress and estimated grinding time. It really opened my eyes as to exactly how many hours of time investment it actually takes to grind out 40 levels in a little over a week. You're looking at a best case scenario of around 25 hours, and a worst-case scenario of over 45 hours if you can't complete all dailies, have a bad losing streak or don't always end up in the top 3 players (which admittedly is very hard to do consistently for average players at high tiers).

After this realization, I skipped the Robocop and Duke Nukem passes. It wasn't a hard decision because neither the tanks, nor their appearance really appealed to me or my playstyle. Naturally if another Zwilling caliber tank comes along I will grind it out, but what about these middling tanks?

The upcoming M-VII-Y Far Cry tank actually looks decent. Not OP, but decent.
It seems similar to the SPHT, and the slight alpha/DPM/mobility it gives up it somewhat compensates for with more effective armor. A lot of people slept on the SPHT so this will be an obtainable alternative until WG decides to rotate the SPHT into the store.

But this brings up the question: Grind it out? Or just wait until it hits the store and buy it.

Yes, buying tanks outright in WoT is expensive. But so is your time. It has value.
If you complete every single daily mission and place top 3 in every single battle you play you can complete the Special BattlePass in around ~22-25 hours.
If not, it can take you over 40 hours of grinding to do. That is an entire work week. And that doesn't get you the tank for free - you still have to pay 3500 gold to get it.

A tier IX heavy is roughly 11,500 gold. So basically you are grinding almost an entire work week for the equivalent of 8000 gold. That has a 'value' of around $30/30 EUR. I'm aware that there are regions and circumstances where this is a significant sum of money, however no matter where you live your time is also valuable.

Naturally, if you normally play several hours of WoT each day and would complete it anyway (or most of it) in the 10 days then a halfdecent tank like this for 3500 gold is a no-brainer.
But if you don't typically play WoT for hours every single day, is it worth actively grinding out?

What do you think? Will you be "grinding" it out?

French Bastille Day missions are live, don't forget to get your Gendron this weekend.

It's only a tier II, but it's a fast wheeled tank and kindof fun.

u/EyeoftheTato — 1 month ago

Wargaming at it again.

Not sure if anyone noticed this, but if you fail the new Crucible missions the first time, it will cost gold to attempt them again.

InB4 "WoT Plus Ultra Mega Super" that gives you one extra retry attempt.

Oh, and where is my Monetizing Practices Rage flair??

Ammo Racks and how to pop them.

Hello folks,

Is there a free resource or mod that shows exactly where the ammo racks (and other modules) of specific tanks are? I have a general idea of where to shoot a small handful of tanks, but it would be awesome to see exactly where the modules are.

Or - if this is not available - are the ammo racks in 'historically accurate' locations? So can I look up actual layouts of tanks that existed IRL and the modules will be in their correct areas?

Thanks in advance,
Cheers
