Lattafa Musamam Black Intense - My thoughts
It’s been a while since I last posted a review on this sub. Life’s been busy lately, but since I just got this bad boy yesterday, I figured I wanted to write my initial review on this fragrance and share my thoughts on it.
Lattafa Musamam Black Intense.
Honestly, i do think that the name, the bottle, and its colour fits the scent perfectly. It's dark, bold, intense, and attention grabbing.
To my nose, this is definitely not your typical mass pleasing or designer-ish fragrance.
It is unique but at the same time, has that Middle Eastern touch to it. The moment i sprayed this on my skin, I immediately picked up this deep, chocolatey patchouli vibe that reminded me a lot of some Mugler fragrances. It has that dark, earthy, slightly sour kind of richness to it. The scent profile fits its bottle design, and the scent keeps it mysterious, heavy and really interesting. This bad boy has personality.
However, I kept thinking that the scent profile felt strangely familiar. It actually reminds me quite a bit of older Lattafa release. Lattafa Fakhar from the Thameen collection.
I wouldn't call them close to each other. They probably share around 55-65% similarity to one another. Both have that dark, spicy, strong, patchouli heavy dna.
The difference is in the direction they take. Fakhar leans fresher, spicier and woodsier making it a little more heavy on the Middle Eastern touch. Then deviate from musamam black intense with its ambery patchouli drydown.
Musamam Black Intense on the other hand goes much darker, more chocolatey, more sour, bolder, and heavier overall. They both get kinda similar in the mid and went into their own direction during the dry down.
Personally, i think Musamam Black Intense is the kind of fragrance that fragrance enthusiasts would appreciate more than the average person. Everything about the presentation is amazing. The texture and design of the box, the bottle, the caps. Everything feels premium to it.
I will let my bottle macerate and mature for a few months. If there's any changes. I will let you all know. So far, I'm satisfied with my purchase and cannot wait to wear this in the heavily cold conditioned office next week.
