Has AI Changed the Job Market for Graphic Designers? What Can Other Professions Learn From It?
Hi everyone,
I’m trying to understand how AI is actually affecting people’s careers, rather than relying on predictions about the future.
Graphic design seems like an interesting example because it is one of the professions where generative AI has become widely accessible.
For those working in graphic design, or who have experience hiring designers:
- Have you noticed fewer job opportunities?
- Are employers hiring fewer designers or changing what they expect from them?
- Have salaries, rates, or competition changed?
- Has AI created new opportunities as well as replacing some tasks?
- Has the career path itself become different?
I’m asking because I’m wondering what people in other professions should learn from what is happening in graphic design.
If AI is already changing the demand for human work in some fields, people choosing or developing their careers may eventually face similar changes in their own professions.
So, based on your experience, what has actually changed, and what would you advise someone today who is choosing a career that could be significantly affected by AI?
I’m much more interested in real experiences than predictions about what AI might do in the future.
