Anxiously Waiting!

Today is the day. I'm all prepped, but the surgery before mine is running long. I'm anxious and hungry. I have been waiting for over 4 hours so far. I hope the person before me is OK and I hope my team gets a restorative break before me.

Pre-op Anxiety Meds?

If you requested anxiety medication when you arrived for surgery, what did they give you? I'm curious because my anxiety is through the roof, so I plan to request meds. Surgery day is Wednesday.

I might also try to dissociate on surgery day 🤣

Surgery in 2 weeks -- silently freaking out!

There's nothing I have to say that hasn't been said before. Despite this, I'm still terrified. I've never had surgery before. Never been under general anesthesia. My anxiety is cycling through worst case scenarios. Of course, I know better -- I'm literally a mental health professional. Nevertheless, that does not make me less scared. I'm worried about not waking up, having complications, malignant pathology... just worry overload. I've been anxious at every step in this process, but I've pushed through. I just needed to get some of this out of my head.

One of my mantras: I can do difficult things.

Surgery is August 19th. Robotic laparoscopic hysterectomy & bilateral salpingectomy. Freaking out every step of the way, but anxiety-filled steps still count.
