Dont work overnight part time!!! (Rant)
I'm 19 (M), and Sprouts is my first job. I've been here for a year working overnight as a part-time grocery stocker on a split-day schedule.
If you're thinking about working overnight, bring knee pads and headphones. Trust me, you'll need them. Also, try to make sure you're hired full-time if possible.
When I couldn't find work anywhere else, I took the overnight position at Sprouts with the plan of transferring to daytime once my probation period ended.
The problem was that my manager considered me a good worker and wouldn't let me switch to days or even make meaningful changes to my schedule.
There's definitely favoritism here. One coworker disappeared for four months, came back for a week, then left again. When I asked if I could move to full-time and take some of the hours that opened up, I was told no. The next week, my own hours were cut by 10.
Another coworker regularly hits his pen then sleeps in the breakroom for an hour during a 15-minute break. Another calls out so often that I ended up doing his work on top of my own. Despite that, I was reported for being "too slow" after regularly working three aisles and stocking around 230 boxes for multiple weeks.
The management hasn't impressed me either. Instead of addressing problems, it often feels like they're standing around in the back smoking cigarettes and talking while the workload keeps piling up on the people who actually show up and work.
I'm currently being forced to leave my home and don't really have any choice except to transfer to another Sprouts location.
God help me, and protect your knees if you work overnight—mine are completely shot.
