Character collector/building games that are NOT gacha
I've been playing various gacha games in the past, mostly because I really liked collecting new characters, investing time and resources into them and them brag about them being good to others (and them looking pretty ofc :D)
However, there are a few things that completely ruin the experience for me and I'd want to AVOID, which are:
• No gacha. I don't mind if it's some miscellaneous stuff like equipment or accessories, but I want it mostly gone)
• No time limited stuff. Means both limited character banners and the need to log in every day so you wouldn't waste the 'energy' system)
• Repetitive, mindless gameplay. I don't really care what the main gameplay loop is, as long as it's not something genuinely boring being passed only to get the in-game currency)
What I do wanna KEEP:
• Big amount of obtainable characters with some sort of unlock system. Doesn't matter how long it takes in terms of gameplay, I just want them always to be obtainable and not during a limited time.
• A vast building system. I want to invest time and resources into the characters and making them better, which mostly limits it to combat games, but I'm open to anything.
I know this is a bit unrealistic, but I've been wondering if there's something like this for so long so thanks for any help in advance :D
QUICK EDIT: I forgot to specify I'd like a game that I could just play on and off for months/years, something I could play on a daily basis rather than just beat one time.
