Periods/Menstruation post ASCT

Hi. I’m 30F and on day 43 post ASCT. While I was prepared to get delayed periods post the transplant, basis what I’d read online, what I wasn’t prepared for was getting my period thrice in 1 month. I got my period, then 2 weeks after that got my period again, and now it’s been a week and I just started bleeding again. My oncologist asked me to meet a gynac, and my appointment is scheduled for the day after tomorrow. I just wanted to know has anyone experienced this kind of thing before? I’m a mix of worried and scared. Thanks.

Looking for positive stories - in a bad place rn

Hi
I’m on day 19 post ASCT, am tired all the time, and lately have been having very negative thoughts about what the future holds. I’ll really appreciate positive stories about deep remissions, fairly regular lifestyles etc. I’m feeling myself being pulled into a dark hole and I don’t want to feel that way. Thanks in advance.

My cat is acting different after my ASCT

This is going to sound odd but I’ve been overthinking it. My 4Yo cat isn’t typically cuddly, but before my ASCT she used to sleep between my legs, rub against them, and she had this weird habit of licking my armpits (I’m sorry she’s weird)

Since I’m back she has not rubbed against my legs once. She rubs against my husband’s legs but not mine. She was about to enter the blanket and sleep with me but chose against it. She sniffed my armpits and walked away. All of this is very very very unusual and I’m worried. Please tell me this is temporary?
Otherwise she played with me a bit and demanded pets, but it seems she doesn’t recognise/like my scent anymore?

My ASCT experience 30F, India

Hi! I was discharged today at day 14 and wanted to make a quick note of my experience at the hospital in case it helps anyone else.

Day -2 They put in the central line. The procedure was slightly uncomfortable and it took me 2 days to get used to it specially since getting up or lying down used to cause a certain pain in my neck.

Day -1 Stem cell collection. I think this was what I was most unprepared for. I had an intense citrate reaction and my entire face felt like it was vibrating the whole time. They kept giving me calcium through the central line but it didn’t seem to help. It was 6 gruelling hours, my legs went numb, and once it was over I was crying since I thought I wasn’t prepared for what’s coming next. This was I think physically one of the most challenging parts of my transplant for me. I’ve been told collection can take multiple days for some. Thankfully we collected enough for me in one day.

Day 0- 3 I got a mild fever (100F) and nausea in day 0 itself. While the fever was gone the next day, the nausea stayed. My appetite took a hit so all I could stomach was curd or bananas.

Day 4-5 My counts dropped significantly and I started having diarrhoea as I entered the neutropenic stage

Day 6-8 I had severe mucositis. It hurt so much that I wasn’t even able to swallow water. I had some platelet transfusions. At one point even talking hurt . ICE CREAM HELPED. That was all i was able to eat, even when I wasn’t able to have water. Carbonated drinks also helped. At this point diarrhoea increased to 14 times a day.

Day 9-10 My counts started improving but I started noticing intense hair fall so had to chop it off.

Day 11-12 The mucositis started to improve, so I was able to eat and drink again, and my IV was removed. The diarrhoea persisted but became less frequent, occurring about 5–8 times a day.

I was going to be discharged on day 13 but they kept me for another day to monitor my diarrhoea. Day 14 I’m back home :)

Overall I think it was not as bad as I was prepared for, barring the stem cell collection.
I’m super lethargic and get exhausted in a 10 minute shower so I’m hoping my energy levels come back up with time!

Kefis sandwich café 2017

Hey
If any of you have tried the sandwiches at the now closed café called Kefi’s, you know they were too good to be true. The café closed around 2017 so it’s been a long time and I know this is a long shot, but I’ve not been able to stop thinking about their sandwiches. Do we have comparable sandwiches anywhere in Ahmedabad? These sandwiches were super tasty n filling and had interesting fillings like even pasta. And unlike other cafés they didn’t fill it up with mayo to make it tasty so it wasn’t greasy either.

Any idea if the owners started something similar? Or if I can find similar sandwiches elsewhere? I’ll be grateful.

Support group for young myeloma patients?

Hi
I found out through one of the posts on here that there’s a Facebook group for patients under 50. I’m 30. I applied to the group and in the info it said that someone would reach out on messenger and I would have to answer questions.
Well, that didn’t happen and now I can’t find the group when I search for it? Did I get blocked? I’m so confused would anyone be able to help here? Thanks!

Menopause after ASCT?

I’m 30F
I’m currently in the process of freezing my eggs before my ASCT, but I’m worried about the fact that I was on pomalid cuz the Internet says it can cause problems with the egg.

Any female here who had an ASCT young? Does it push you into menopause? What are the chances of a natural pregnancy after ASCT?

Going for ASCT next month. Tips & Tricks? What to expect?

Hi
I’m 30F, scheduled for ASCT in the second half of June. They said I’d be allowed to keep a caregiver with me during my 21 day hospital stay. The doctor said the caregiver (in this case, my husband) will just have to be there for me and entertain me.
My husband is a high court lawyer so he plans to fight his cases online in the lobby area.
My concern is, will this arrangement work? Will I be too weak to say, shower or go to the washroom? Will I be dependent on the caretaker? So I can prepare him accordingly. Cuz the doctor sure made it sound breezy.
