Need advice on updating intensity in workout split
Hello all!
I have been lifting for a little over 4 years and have found my ideal workout split to be alternating between 2 options:
- Push-Pull-Legs-Push-Pull-Rest and repeat
- Push-Pull-Legs-Rest and repeat
So in both of these routines, I lift pretty hard in each workout (7-10 RPE). Ive found my self stagnating a bit on progressive overload so have started incorporating light days in the mix occasionally to give my body rest and also focus more on form. Two questions come up:
- Which days should I make light days in the routine when I’m hitting approximately every body part twice a week?
- For the light days, is it best to keep the same exercises and just have lighter weight (including the main compound lift) or have a separate routine with more auxiliary exercises and completely removing the compound lift?
Thanks!
