Is Grey Sloan still one of the country's best hospitals?
Wanna preface by saying I've never watched past s17 (and end all of my rewatches after s12, so i'm rusty on 13-17)
in early seasons, Seattle Grace has some of the world's best surgeons on staff. Derek and Burke are at the tops of their field with people traveling the world to be seen by them. Addison comes in as an incredible neonatal surgeon (which, at the time was a rare speciality in the show universe). Mark also had people traveling the country to see him for his excellent work in plastics. Cristina is a prodigy, too.
All of these people are gone/dead/have spinoff shows that make very little sense to me (like... why would you give up being a life saving surgeon? bc you got divorced? idts addy...). Even Meredith, who ended up being a groundbreaking general surgeon is in Boston (from what I understand).
Are there any GREAT surgeons even left? Are they just adding cast that now becomes the Best of the Best, and doesn't that kind of belittle the importance of the OG characters? I even kind of hated when they said Amelia was a better neurosurgeon than Derek, but I accept that one gracefully—since they're related, it's less far fetched.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts or responses (saving me from tormenting myself with the new seasons that make me sad lol)
