PROJECT HAIL MARY AGILENT LAB INSTRUMENT?
Hello everyone!
I have a question for you: can anyone identify the equipment shown in this scene from Project Hail Mary?
I recently watched the movie (great sc-ifi!!) and noticed a frame in the laboratory during a microbiological analysis. The character played by Ryan Gosling appears to be using an Agilent instrument. I suspect it is an Agilent system because the Autosampler looks very similar to the ones I work with.
Does anyone here recognize the model? I'm curious to know which instrument was actually used in this scene and whether it is a real Agilent.
For context, the instrument is apparently being used to determine which elements are present in Astrophage (the alien microorganism from the movie) and to measure their concentrations. Initially, I thought it was an LC-MS or GC-MS system, but I didn't know that either of those techniques could be used for this kind of elemental analysis.
Sorry if this isn't the right place for this kind of question. If anyone recognizes the model or has any insight into the analytical technique being portrayed, I'd love to hear your thoughts
