ICL & Eye pressure
Hi everyone, I wanted to share my ICL surgery journey so far. I had my surgery on May 16th (now a bit over 3 weeks post-op) and wanted to see if anyone has gone through something similar, especially regarding fluctuating eye pressure and steroids.
Day 1 Post-Op: My left eye was fine and I was able to see, but my right eye had intense white blurriness/fog.
Day 2 & 3: The blurriness started to clear up. I had my follow-up appointment and my doctor kept reassuring me everything was fine. At this point, my eye pressure was normal. I was on Steroid drops every 2 hours, along with Idenorm and antibiotics 4x a day.
Day 4: Noticed redness in my eyes. I informed my doctor and he asked me to come the next day.
Day 5: My eye pressure spiked to 34 in my right eye and 25 in my left eye. The doctor immediately gave me 2 pills at the clinic, prescribed pressure drops (Alphagan & Xolamol) to be used 2x a day, and tapered the steroid drops down to 4x a day. They checked my optic nerve, and it was fine.
Day 8: Pressure dropped to 19 and 18. The doctor stopped Alphagan, and I had already stopped my Idenorm and antibiotic drops because they were only prescribed for 1 week. I continued with Steroids 3x a day + Xolamol.
Current Situation: Last week, I tapered the steroids further down to 2x a day. However, on Tuesday and Wednesday, I started experiencing eye aching and headaches after coming home from work. Today (Sunday, June 7th), I had a regularly scheduled follow-up appointment. I was feeling some pain around my left eye, and at the clinic, the test showed that my pressure was up again at 28. The doctor put me back on Alphagan, reduced the steroid drops to just once a day, and scheduled another optic nerve check for tomorrow just to be safe. Has anyone experienced this kind of pressure spikes after ICL? How long did it take for your pressure to fully stabilize after completely stopping steroids? Will it have any long-term effects on me?
