Elementary or high school for my first job?
Just some quick info about myself: I received my Bachelor’s almost ten years ago and couldn’t pursue teaching right away because I needed to help my family. Long story short, I’m finally able to start and before I apply, I’d love to know what your first music teaching job was like and how I can best prepare. I am a little dusty because I graduated so long ago, but I still have a passion for music and teaching.
I am applying to an online masters program as well so I can eventually teach at the college level. Also, I’m a vocalist, and unfortunately, I can’t play an instrument. I’d like to focus mainly on music theory/composition and research, but I know that isn’t realistic right now given my inexperience. I feel so underprepared, however, this is something I’d really love to do and I just need to start.
