Unfortunate Circumstance

Hey all! Need some advice on a weird situation. My girlfriend was unexpectedly gifted four tiger barbs by someone who should’ve thought it through a little longer, as we didn’t have a proper tank setup at all.

Luckily, her parents kept fish in the past, and had some necessary things like a tank, equipment, etc. After losing one to an escape attempt and many pet store visits, the fish seem okay after a couple days in the new tank.

I did some research throughout all of this, and found that tiger barbs can be dangerous to each other in schools of less than ten. This tank is 30 gallons.

I would like any kind of advice on how to keep these fish happy and healthy long term! I’m willing to (within the confines of my wallet) do what it takes to save these fish and give them the life they deserve.
