GPT5.5 not suited for role-playing or creative writing?

Hello. I was using Claude, but I got banned for overuse, so I went back to GPT which I had forgotten I was subscribed to for the first time in a while and started role-playing.

That got me thinking: even when I try both the 5.5 and Thinking Pro versions, the responses somehow end up sounding like they’re strictly adhering to modern compliance regulations.

For example, in a typical role-playing scenario where you accept a quest from a medieval or fantasy guild, if the quest involves combat or magic outside, it requires prior application, a supervisor, safety signs, rules, permits, a person in charge, contingency plans for potential damage, and evacuation routes.

If large-scale magic is to be used, according to Article 12 of the Guild Rules, you must apply to the authorities in advance, obtain approval, assign a supervisor, and post safety notices.

That sort of thing.

Additionally, in this town, conspiratorial acts are a violation of the rules. Please present a safety notice and consult the relevant authorities.

Even though we’re supposed to be role-playing, it ends up feeling like paperwork.

At its worst, it starts with therapy sessions telling me to “talk it out with the other person,”

or an AI suggests a “contract handshake”—but when I take their hand, the text outputs partway before displaying “violation” in red and forcing a termination.

I remember a time when more original world-building unfolded spontaneously. Is this because I’m using GPT-5.5?

Or has it completely stopped accepting RP?
I’d appreciate it if someone could enlighten this clueless ancient person.

Thanks for reading!
