Dental related to cancer treatment

I don't know if anyone has any experience with this. We are contacting medicare, but just wanted to see if it was worth trying.

My 65 year old dad was diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer in the fall. It spread to his bones, which all of his drs say is actually best case scenario.

That being said, he started hormone therapy which is thankfully working, and did radiation for his spots on his bones. However, he now has to start a bone strengthener and hes doing 6 rounds of chemo soon. His dr wants him to be get a dental clearance/check b/c bone strengtheners can be harsh on your jaw and mouth and he doesnt have the best teeth. He also needs it before starting chemo b/c it can cause infections if his teeth aren't okay.

The issue is that he doesn't have dental insurance, and funds are tight b/c he's sick and not working as much. He was laid off in the fall of 2024 about 9 months before turning 65 and lost his dental. We never thought about it until the dr said he needed to see a dentist. So im helping him out and trying to find something within his budget is not working out so well right now. Does anyone know if medicare will cover his dental b/c it's required to start the rest of his cancer treatment?

TLDR: will medicare help cover any dental work that is required in order for my 65 year old father to finish the rest of his cancer treatment?

Thanks so much!
