Question for CA teachers as someone from #50th in education *New Mexico*

Okay okay so I heard that California is one of the best states with education (like Jersey and New York) and I also heard the opposite so idk what is true. First question is that do you guys hold back students especially at an elementary level like from k-5 or k-6 level? (Especially a normal, slow learner and unorganized student?) Second question, are there schools (like elementary and middle) that are completely “meat grinders,” meaning that the curriculum and difficulty is just “wtf,” like students that are way above their grade levels based of their state testing and their overall grades?Third question are there schools like (elementary, middle, and high schools) that are “similar to New Mexico?” What I mean specifically by that is the curriculum, difficulty (usually easier to light-moderate), pacing, student environment competitiveness, etc.? Even in rich counties such as (SD, LA, OC or the Bay Area like are there schools that are like New Mexico “easier slow pace schools?”)
