BEIJING 4K WALK – The Part of the Great Wall Most Visitors Never Reach!

Sharing my latest walk and the Beijing series finale — This time, we’re walking the complete northern path of the Great Wall of China at Badaling from Tower 1 to Tower 12. Most visitors never go that far and turn back after the grueling climb to Tower 8 standing at 888 meters above sea level, but we kept going and continue into sections of the wall that are more remote, less crowded and feel completely untouched. Turn on CC for historical context and commentary throughout or leave them off for a pure immersive walk on one of the world's most iconic structures!

I've been running 2 AOC gaming monitors 4k 144hz (U28G2X/D) bought in June 2022. Both failed a while back within 1-2 months of each other - basically started power cycling and kept turning on and off over and over again.

Luckily when this happened, both were still under the standard 3-year warranty and I was able to get them fixed. Both were diagnosed with a faulty main board and AOC sent a techician to replace the board both times which fixed the issue.

Fast forward to yesterday, the first one failed again with the same issue and now it's out of warranty. And based on the pattern, I expect my second monitor to fail within the next 1-2 months.

So now I'm looking for some replacement recommendations within a 200-300 USD budget. Not a competitive FPS gamer so just want something 4k at either 144hz or 160hz, either 27 or 28 inch. Would love to upgrade to mini-led but probably out of my budget so most likely sticking with an IPS panel.

I did some research and the MSI MAG 275UPD E14 or Gigabyte G27UP seem like good options. Both fall within my budget with the Gigabyte being a little more expensive but better specs. Definitely staying away from AOC this time but just wanted to ask if anyone has had experience with either or if there are other recommendations I may have missed?

Sharing my latest walk from Beijing. Most people think of Japan when they see pink blossoms, but this is Haitang Flower Creek in the heart of Wangjing, Beijing’s "Silicon Valley" and home to one of the world's largest Korean expat communities. This 2-kilometer corridor features over 2,000 Chinese flowering crabapple trees (Haitang) that reach peak bloom in spring. Beyond the aesthetics, the walk explores the massive environmental shift in the city as well including Beijing’s “sponge city” initiative. As always, turn on CC for context and commentary or leave them off for a pure immersive stroll through this secret spring paradise in Beijing.

Sharing my latest walking video in Beijing. This time, we’re at the Temple of Heaven, where Chinese emperors performed rituals that determined the fate of an empire. Built in 1420, this massive UNESCO World Heritage complex is where emperors would pray and speak to the heavens for good harvests and good fortune. Over 600 acres, the Temple of Heaven Park is nearly 4x larger than the Forbidden City and in this nearly 2-hour walk, we cover all the major attractions including the iconic Hall of Prayer, to a mysterious wall with impossible acoustics, to the altar that was considered to be the exact center of universe. As always, turn on CC for historical context and commentary, or leave it off for the immersion!

Sharing my latest walking video in Beijing. Welcome to Chang'an Avenue, the political heart of a superpower. This street is often called Beijing's "Power Axis" and runs east-west directly through the center of the city. Walking on this street you will pass by the CCP Headquarters called Zhongnanhai, essentially China's White House, the iconic Tiananmen Gate and Square, and much more. This area is tightly controlled and we have to pass by a few security checkpoints showing passports to get through. The rainy atmosphere adds to the cinematic feel too. Turn on CC for commentary and historical context or leave it off for the immersion!

Sharing my latest 4K walking video of Beijing. This time we are exploring Shichahai, a stunning network of three ancient lakes that has served as the city’s 'lifeline' for over 700 years. While the rest of Beijing rushes toward the future with skyscrapers, this area remains the soul of the old city where 13th-century history meets the vibrant energy of modern nightlife. Turn on CC to get commentary and historic info or keep it off for just the ambient sounds and atmosphere.
