this book was read in a public school library 2012~2016. I think it was set in middle england and involved a womens boarding school. A pair of friends I think broke school boundaries and found a portal to an alternate fantasy dimension.. and I dont remember much from here. Thry may have gained powers from this other world. I think it was a trilogy and the main characters lesbian romance was revealed with her best friend later on in the series. I It has been bugging me so much not being able to remember
