Warm Weather Killed My Starter 😔

hello! newbie sourdough baker here (I’ve been making bread since January). Unfortunately this is my first time dealing with warmer weather (I live in NYC and we just had a heatwave of 95°), and it killed my starter 😭 I opened my jar this morning to find a bunch of bugs/slugs and small flies. How do I deal with keeping my starter out during the warmer months, especially when it gets humid? I was already dealing with small flies the last few weeks due to the warm weather and having to not keep the lid on snug, but I just had to throw out my whole jar due to some slug looking bugs inside. NYC gets pretty humid in the summer months and I don’t have AC near my kitchen, just a ceiling fan.

Beeswax Storage

I recently purchased this beeswax bread bag from Amazon and I’ve noticed that it makes my bread hard. Like within a day or 2 becoming rock hard. I usually keep my bread in ziploc bags but want something more environmentally friendly but this beeswax bag is ruining my bread! ☹️ For context, I keep my bread on a countertop, not in the fridge. I haven’t noticed my bread going bad or anything when I do this, especially in a ziploc bag.
