Best cold openers?

While watching the episode 2010 (how's that 16 years ago!), it struck me how much of a good cold opener this episode has! It established that we are at some point in the future and that Carter is struggling to conceive a child, nicely foreshadowing the theme of the episode.. What are some of your favourite cold openers in the stargate franchise?

Who's the least worst of the nutrek captain's?

Who was the best captain of the kurtzman era? Which one would you actually be willing to serve under? It's a tough question, but that's why we're here! 🖖

Life started in france? 🇨🇵😱

In all good things, Q takes picard to primordial earth, more specifically where france will one day be and strongly implies that is where life on earth began! Has a brit 🇬🇧 i find this deeply offensive and the implications highly disturbing, so this scene should be stricken from canon posthaste! 😉😅

It is an interesting, informative, and mostly correct take on why the modern streaming era of trek failed... For me, I was surprised by Brian Fuller, a writer responsible for some of my favourites episodes, Was the man responsible for discovery 🤦 Section 31 was far worse than I could have imagined, and that kurtzman fired Matalas.. What do my fellow redditors think?

This is my personal ranking of Star Trek shows, and I'd be interested to see how many agree or disagree with me.. so without further ado... 1. Deep space nine 2.TNG 3. TOS 4. Voyager 5. Enterprise 6. Lower Decks 7. SNW 8. Prodigy 9. TAS 10. Discovery 11. Picard (if it was all like the last season, it'll be higher, but alas) 12. SFA.. what do you guys think? 🖖

While rewatching tos, it's become more apparent to me that the differences in the depiction of the various legendary characters are totally way off, and besides the names, they are totally different people in every other metric... yes, I know they are different actors, but they are meant to portray well established characters.. so why even bother or pretend they are one and the same? I can cut number one, chapel, and pike to a degree a little slack because we know next to nothing about them, although anson mounts pike is nothing like Jeffrey Hunters' stoic and brooding pike. Spock is obviously the biggest changed character. Instead of the intellectual, logical, and loyal first officer, we have basically an idiotic, comedic, bimbo, who chases after half of the female crewmembers! Scotty, far too young, goofy and nothing particularly about his mannerisms screams scotty to me 🤷‍♂️ kirk is ok but lacks the originals charm.. The only one I particularly like is uhura, and it's nice seeing the character given more development, but we need to see her playing the harp and singing in the rec room more! 🖖

While through my rewatch of TOS, I'm reminded how many times you can hilariously see kirks stunt double (he doesn't even look like him) in many of the fight scenes! I love the cheesiness of it! Has anyone noticed another incident where you can clearly see it's a double in other trek shows?

While watching the latest teaser trailer for strange new worlds, i noticed what looks like a moon orbiting a ringed gas giant get destroyed.. I hope it's just a coincidence, but that looks a lot like andoria! If they destroy andoria, or any other classic races homeworld, I'm going to riot! 🤣🤣
