There's a user who makes posts on this subreddit that roughly follow this same formula:

• I was laid off from company X
• It's been a long, brutal job search
• Any advice?

Company X is different in each post (e.g. Lyft, Block, GitHub).

In some posts, they receive an offer from another company (e.g. Coinbase, Doordash) and ask if they should take it or keep looking.

To be clear, I'm not trying to get this user banned or "punished" or whatever. I just want to know what motivation someone could have for making up stuff like this?

And yes, I'm aware that people post lies on the Internet all the time... But usually they have a reason for it.
