Bathroom vent fan advice

I’ve changed my bathroom vent fan multiple times due to moisture on the ceiling and walls. The bathroom is 10x6 and the fan is 150 cfm with a 4 inch outlet. The fan is connected to 4 inch insulated flexible duct and that goes out about 5 feet to a 4 inch magnetic vent cap coming out the side of the house above the garage. The fan is located in the center of the bathroom with a light fixture between it and the shower doors. I usually have the window or door open when I shower but I like the showers very hot. It can be a 10 minute hot shower and the fan will be dripping and moisture will build up next to it on one side. Knowing this setup I have some questions.

  1. Will moving the fan above the shower help keep moisture off the walls and ceiling?

  2. If I get a fan with a 6 inch outlet and higher cfm with 6 inch ducting, will it be pointless if it just goes to a 4 inch vent cap? I’d really like to avoid changing that. Also my wife hates the sound of vent fans so I’m trying to keep the noise output low.
