Adrix Retcon or Error?
I'm currently reading the Strixhaven book and I came across a line regarding Adrix (now dean). In the line, the pronoun used for Adrix is he, meaning that both Adrix and Nev would be men or at least identify as men. However, in the original art and in the secret lair art one of the two twins is depicted as being female or female presenting. In the original art the foreground twin has softer facial features, extended eyelashes, and their chest seems to have a shape to it, but this is more apparent in the secret lair art.
The other two depictions of the twins are much more androgynous in their designs though, I believe the SOS special guest still seems to have enough distinction between the two characters. Commanders insight, I can take a guess at who is who, but I feel like I would be projecting.
Do we think that Adrix has been retconned to a male character, or maybe they have transitioned to a man? Or maybe Nev was originally depicted as a woman and then transitioned? Or have I just been projecting gender onto the characters this whole time?
Or did Seanan McGuire make a simple mistake? I see most people on this subreddit refer to Adrix as 'he'.
Sorry for the weird dive into this. I don't mean for it to come off as off putting or weird... Adrix and Nev were my first commander and I still play them to this day. They hold a very special place in my heart and I would love to know all the lore I can about them.
I was bummed to only see Nev get a card in SOS.
