Customer went ‘Karen mode’ over 3 small cups of rice.
Working in takeout orders that evening. This customer ordered 3 kitchen meals and 2 sushi sets. Kitchen meals comes with complimentary soup and rice, Sushi comes with soup. It was a busy evening on Sunday and we were understaffed because my manager went to the Bruno mars concert. I still packed the customer’s order right, with soups and utensils and all but we ran out of rice. There was already a 20 minute delay on orders so I had to mark theirs as done. They picked it up right away and about an hour later they called.
Customer argued that they were missing their cups of rice (mind you they’re about 4oz cups). I explained we ran out of stock and that I could refund them (it would be about $3) if they really wanted. Or they could receive free rice the next time they ordered. Customer said “That’s not good enough,” “Do you understand I have to cook my own rice?!” “I don’t care, do you not tell us you don’t have rice?”
Customer asked for my manager and name after I said there was nothing I could do and that he was being a little ridiculous over refusing refund, and extra rice next time.
I didn’t give him my name tho lmao and he hung up on me.
Whose side would you be on? Mr. I can’t cook rice for the life of me, or a minimum wage employee?
