Hello all, I am trying to find the title of a book I (27) read when I was either in high-school or college. It was about a teenage kid (can't remember their gender) who survived the bombing of either Hiroshima or Nagasaki. Some of the plot points that I remember is the child and an adult (im not sure their relation) were trying to get to a hospital/safe zone. There was a scene at a shrine/temple on top of a hill where people were being sent to essentially die. I believe there was also something like a pocket watch that was important to the child.

I don't remember much else and it has been driving me crazy.
