Advice required to help a single mom regarding a property disput
Hi my Mom who was working in kuwait for the last 20+ years alone built a house in chennai in 2013 for which she took a loan from a private financier 5 lakhs and was paying emis later she had a health issue for which she again took a loan for lakhs in 2016 from the same person and again in 2019 she took a loan for 3 lakhs and another 2 lakhs in 2022 all those she did because she had a good relationship with that person he helped us during tough times she gave the land on mortgage in 2013.
Repayment: it was on and off we made a settlement of 6 lakhs for which I also helped in 2017 I thought that loan was closed back then but she had some 3 lakhs pending she thought she will close it on her own scared to tell us if she had told us I would have helped her to close it but she thought otherwise, I was thinking the loan she took afterwards were new so I was paying the emis from 2024 we have almost paid 23 lakhs for which I have online proofs for 15 lakhs last year I check the land docs and found it was in mortgage and went and asked that person that when he revealed all were topups since the repayment was irregular penalty, intrest were accumulated and asked me to pay 25 lakhs to close the loan completely I was shoked and asked for all the docyrelated to topups and how interest were calculated he stated talking very vaguely and kind of threatened me that I would send u a notice and all that then I asked my mom she was also shocked and don't know what to do I asked her to come to India and we went together suddenly he said pay 11 lakhs and I will release the mortgage in January this year for which I refused again and told I have already paid almost double of what I borrowed we have a good relationship but that doesn't mean u can milk money form a single lady who worked hard all these years this is her only savings but he refused to budge and stuch with 11 lakhs I said I can't pay and left after that both of us didn't make any conversation I'm confused what to do kindly help with an advise I don't want to that much money please help.....
