I bought my 1st house a couple years ago , went through a realtor the whole normal process. fast forward my mortgage company informs me I owe unpaid property taxes (I have an fha loan) , the county informs me my house was never changed under my name (still under previous owner name) . This seems to have caused my mortgage company to pay my taxes incorrectly due to the previous owner having the senior tax exemption resulting in these “unpaid taxes” . The title company is permanently closed so they have fast forwarded my realtors emails to the company that bought it out and it’s about to be a month and we have not heard back yet . My question has anyone else gone through this situation ? How did it get resolved ? Am I responsible for the unpaid taxes or is the title company or mortgage company at fault ? I have tried reaching out to several real estate lawyers and none have called back to advise if I need a lawyer or not . thanks for any advice !
