This normal in Oceania servers?
Don’t play mordhau much, don’t use Reddit much, first time posting here, no clue if rants are normal or not but ah well.
Stumbled across a “mordhau monday” event I think it’s called, that Oceania region folk do, after Europe servers were empty this morning UK time, and setting matchmaking to worldwide.
Asked which servers I was in, and said where I’m from shortly after joining. For the next 20 minutes before being vote kicked, for some reason, I witnessed the most unfunny and weird and toxic sense of humour I think I’ve ever seen. And was just singled out and made apart of a massive inside joke it felt like. All because I was British, I think?
Started with me being called American. Absolute knee slapper right? Made this joke repeatedly for the next 20 minutes in different forms by multiple people. Doesn’t even make sense when australias got closer cultural ties with the US than the UK does.
Any conversations in chat would end after 5 seconds because a swarm of unfunny copypasta would sent them to the top of chat off screen. Genuinely muted like 10 people and the spam was still bad. The copy pasta was just straight bs, capital letters, inappropriate stuff, and a touch of discrimination here and there.
Had some fella ask for my address and bank details too, hilarious.
Then bam, out of nowhere I got vote kicked, despite them knowing I was only in the server because there were no other ones full. This also part of this community’s humour? Was actually enjoying seeing this strange corner of the internet. Had to go back to local matches because obviously no others servers were alive.
Missed some stuff and forgotten other stuff because this was like half a day ago but, overall was basically just, like I said, singled out, disrespected, made apart of a massive inside joke. Couldn’t tell if these jokes were serious or just really unfunny and banter because when I returned the banter (at least one time) I was just treated with hostility. Think that was a big part of why I was kicked, the reception of what I was saying. Wish I could provide some evidence but ‘course, thought it was all just harmless banter up until I got kicked so didn’t bother recording anything.
Just confused, curious and a bit pissed. Is it just me who thinks I was treated unfairly? And if this Reddit is as toxic as in game chat is (no clue, just joined) before you say “cry about it” or whatever, god forbid someone online get a lil pissed off for being wronged and wanting some explanation.
