hello all. I was semi-recently (end of 2025) diagnosed with Crohns and have been navigating through it. January of 2025 started out by me noticing bloody stool and I ended up getting a colonoscopy where the doctors initially put me on Mesalamine and I was told that I had UC (ulcerative colitis) since the inflammation and ulcers were localized to my rectal region. The mesalamine seemed to work well for a bit but then my symptoms returned of the bloody stool and now also some abdominal cramping. They then performed another colonoscopy and found other regions of inflammation in my descending and sigmoid colon. to which my diagnosis was now changed to crohns. They started me with budesonide which quickly worked to calm down the inflammation and then I was put on Skyrizi. since starting Skyrizi in 2026 my flares have been minimal if any. i started my initial on body dose and now I am even traveling currently through south east Asia! visiting countries like Vietnam and Thailand. I’m sharing all of this to show that even with crohns that it’s possible to live and be adventurous. it doesn’t mean I didn't take extra precautions like bringing budesonide and antibiotics just in case. I have had to use the budesonide on my trip as I could feel a minor flare oncoming from the food I had been eating (a bit greasy and unpredictably) so it’s important to constantly monitor your symptoms. apps like poop maps help with that as well. if you have any questions about traveling with crohns let me know I will do my best to answer them. Feel free to below any tips to share with me an others.
