The only time I've ever been consistent at the gym is when someone else was counting on me - Why is that so hard to replicate solo?
For about 6 months I went to the gym 4x a week without fail - Looking back the only thing that was different was my mate and I had a standing arrangement, same days. I didn't want to be the one who bailed on him.
That ended when he moved. And I've basically been inconsistent ever since.
I've tried everything people recommend. Scheduling it like a meeting, laying your clothes out the night before etc lol I even paid for a PT for a while which worked, but again, only because someone was literally waiting for me...
The second there's no one expecting me to show up, I negotiate myself out of it by 5pm.
So I'm genuinely curious, has anyone actually cracked this without relying on another person? Like is there something that's created that same "someone's waiting" feeling without needing a real human involved? or is the social contract the only way?
