So since March this year, there has been a clear push to celebrate 20 years since S2. They even opted to focus on this 20 year anniversary of S2 by ignoring the 21 year anniversary of S1 completely in March.
We now seem to be on a path of getting weekly S2 episode content - yesterday covering 20 years since The Girl in the Fireplace. I think we can expect this to continue for the next 9 weeks, concluding with Doomsday in July.
But something struck me about yesterday and slightly surpised me - they really held back from drawing any attention to the romance between 10 and Reinette which was obviously a huge factor of that episode.
And it's got me wondering whether this was a deliberate decision ahead of a possible (maybe inevitable) Billie Piper and David Tennant reunion at Christmas.
There seems to be a drive to revisit that romance without any distractions or diversions from that narrative.
