Hey all, I could use some help picking a small white light for work.

I’m doing overnight security at an industrial site, mostly walking fence lines, checking doors, and crossing a few ugly dark parking lots. My current setup is pretty barebones. I’vegot a radio, boots, and a little 365nm UV light I keep around for pest checks near the outer fence. It’s an UltraFire C15S and it has been handy for that specific job, especially when I’m scanning corners and concrete edges for scorpionns.

But for actual walking around, checking IDs, looking inside trailers, etc., UV obviously isn’t useful. I need a normal white light that can live in a uniform pocket and not die halfway through a 12-hour shift.

Main things I care about:

  • pocketable, not a huge duty light
  • decent runtime on medium
  • can survive being dropped on pavement
  • simple UI, preferably not something with 20 modes
  • budget-friendly if possible

Do you guys usually recommend built-in USB charging for work use, or is it smarter to carry spare cells and swap them? I’m not trying to buy the fanciest light here, just something dependable enough that I’m not fighting with it at 3am.

Any suggestions?
