Question for people learning piano - either self-taught or with a teacher.

Which is your favorite way to learn piano music:

A. Reading traditional music notation/listening to recordings...

or

B. Learning melodies by ear and following chord symbols?

I am designing a new adult piano program (not selling anything here) and am looking for your feedback. Thank you! Honeydew Piano Mentor

  1. What kind of piano music are you most wanting to learn to play?
  2. Did you take lessons as a child?
  3. Can you find and play any chords using letter symbols?
  4. Do you have any music reading skills?
  5. Can you play from a jazz/pop chord chart or lead sheet?
