How do you overcome the feeling that you’re never truly "ready" for a race?
Hi everyone,
I am an amateur cyclist and I train 3 to 5 times a week. My FTP is currently around 140 W. I am preparing for a race, but as the day gets closer, I have a strong feeling that I am not ready at all.
When I look at my training numbers and charts, I can see that I made progress. But my mind keeps telling me negative things like: "You should have trained more," "You are too slow," or "Everyone else will be much faster than you."
Physically, I know I did the work, but mentally, I feel very unprepared and anxious.
For those who have more experience:
* Does this feeling ever go away before a race?
* What do you tell yourself when you feel like you are not ready?
* Do you have any simple mental tips or routines for the days before the event?
I would love to read your advice. Thank you!
What age have you bought first bike?
I was around 18 year old when I bought my first bike - trekking, second at age 37 - gravel and I am dreaming about road bike before 50 :)
Tired of bloated cycling apps? I built wattlog.pro – a clean, subscription-free way to ride GPX routes on your smart trainer. [iOS Demo]
Hi everyone! I'm the solo developer behind wattlog.pro.
I built this because I wanted a simple, lightweight way to ride my own GPX files indoors without paying for a monthly subscription or dealing with 3D avatars and cluttered screens.
What wattlog.pro is about:
- Pure Data: A clean dashboard focused on power, heart rate, and cadence.
- GPX Simulation: Load any route and your smart trainer will simulate the grade automatically.
- Lightweight: No corporate bloat, just you and your workout.
The app is currently in Beta, and I’m looking for fellow riders to help me test the iOS version. If you want to give it a spin, you can join the TestFlight below!

Website: https://wattlog.pro
I'd love to hear your feedback on the UI and what features you’d like to see next!
