Im going to be in China on my own from December 30 - Jan 9th.

My plan is to be in Hong Kong for new years, but after this I’ve got no idea where to go. I need to be back in Guangzhou for my flight on Jan 9th at 8am. I’m weighing up either Yangshuo or Zhangjiajie but can’t work out what I’d rather do.

Would love to go to a more remote town/village if possible, please just give me any suggestions!

I’m 24, fit and healthy and want to do some active stuff, but also some places with a good bar for some drinks

I live in Australia, and I’m going home to England for Christmas this year. On the way back to Aus, I want to stop through China for about 9 days. I was looking at doing new years in Hong Kong, then heading to Yangshou, then Guangzhou as I’ll be leaving from there.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I’m happy to do some touristy stuff but would love to rent a scooter and drive around yangshuo on my own, I’m just curious what the laws are like there. I’d rather drive for most of the day so would prefer a gas powered scooter (I have experience riding them), would this be easy to find there?

I also like to do my own thing and think it would be cool to see some places that people don’t go to very often. I wish I could stay for longer but unfortunately I have to work
