Could my gallstone actually be a polyp? What does this mean for me?

Got diagnosed with gallstones two years ago and have been managing with a low fat diet. Two months ago I had an ultrasound showing no stones at all. I went back on a fatty diet but cut out dairy. No attacks. Then I got a CT scan that shows a .3 cm spot that could be either a stone or a polyp given that it seems attached to the wall of the gallbladder. Can polyps cause attacks like gallstones? What could explain the attacks going away altogether when they were lasting for a few hours at one point?
