O-Chem Accountable study buddy group
Hello people of Reddit,
I had an idea for surviving O Chem 343 this fall semester at UW. The idea is basically an accountability-based study group where we all commit to meeting once a week for about 3 hours to work through orgo problems together consistently throughout the semester.
Here’s the concept:
Everyone puts in around $100–$200 at the start.
The money gets placed into a Certificate of Deposit (CD) or high-yield account so it earns some interest while sitting there.
Everyone gets 2 free absences for the semester.
After that, missing meetings would gradually reduce the amount of money you get back.
People who consistently show up would get:
-their money back
-a little extra from interest/absence penalties
-ideally an A in orgo 💀
The point is basically to create real accountability/motivation to stay consistent instead of falling behind and cramming before exams. I’d probably have a couple people help keep track of attendance/money totals (possibly with spreadsheets + ChatGPT helping organize things). Would anyone actually be interested in doing something like this?
