Took the Duolingo English Test. Waited 48 hours.

"Test could not be certified due to glare from glasses."

My heart sank. Was already doing the math on another $70.

Then I found out — DET gives up to 2 FREE retakes for technical or environmental issues.

I didn't pay a single dollar extra. Got certified. Got in.

Here's what nobody tells you before exam day 👇

Setup:

• Close EVERY app — even background ones
• Plain wall behind you, no posters or shelves
• Glasses glare WILL get you flagged — remove them if you can

If your test gets flagged:

• Don't panic and don't pay
• Contact DET support FIRST
• Ask about the free retake policy
