Strengthening a 7 ft panel
I am restoring an Art Nouveau window. It is 7 ft tall by 32" wide. I bought the glass pieces; they were disassembled and missing some. I just finished the came on one side and am starting on the back. I am thinking about how to give it a strong structure. There will be a wood or steel frame. I am thinking of adding three 1/2" x 7 ft tinned steel bars vertically and 5 cross bars. How do I make the cross and vertical bars attach well? Should I weld them together before installation, or is solder enough? AI told me that I need to split this door into 2 panels or the top will crush the bottom. Is this true? I hate to divide this beautiful design. Thank you! This is my first game project, and it is a bit terrifying.
