Asalamualaikum. I am a class 12th student (Male). I scored close to 90%ile in JEE Mains. With this score, I wont be getting anything good. I also appeared for BITSAT and Manipal Entrance Test and again my performance was not up to the mark. The only options I now left with are either IUST Awantipora or some college in Malaysia. The problem is I don't know someone who already is in this field and could therefore help me all this. If anyone here could help me; I would really appreciate it.

  1. My apprehension regarding joining a Tire-3 college is that it is Tier-3. It has no brand value, doesn't help with placements. They don't even guarantee jobs. Leave jobs, they don't even get placements. I spoke to some students from IUST and they said that no companies come to recruit. Will I even build any connections there in IUST or it is purely a wastage of time?? I don't even know what kind of crowd will be there. I know I am not some extraordinary genius student given the way I am talking about crowd, but I also am not a spoilt person who wastes his parents hard-earned money. I regret my weak performance till now but I really wish to improve henceforth, and therefore I want to be among good students that take studies seriously. I don't know what kind of crowd is in IUST and also what kind of environment is there. Would love to hear from people who know something about this.

Also, I am sure that IUST won't be providing me with any internships which I have heard are very important to get a job as a fresher. I do know about leetcode, codeforce, Hackerrank etc. but my doubt is will this compensate for a local unknown college? Will this help with internships at all???

  1. I am also considering Malaysia, since this is the only cheap foreign option. But I get the feeling that it comes with even more negatives than IUST. The fee is too much. Now even that can be managed and that too without a loan, but what I have read online is that there are not that many tech companies in Malaysia and also they highly prefer hiring local Malaysian students since that is cheap for the company. So I will be paying far more that IUST and still be unemployed. What should my approach be toward this path. Also, they expect you to leave immediately after the degree is handed over. No time is given to look for a job. Is all of this true??? If so then why do so many Kashmiris prefer Malaysia for engineering at all?? It doesn't make sense to me. Do our people really not research before taking any step?

I am really confused and worried right now. Would be extremely grateful if fellow Kashmiris could help.......Shukriya tuhi saarni hund parne khetre.....
