Dire need for help in Asset Allocation!!

I’m studying CFA Level III Asset Allocation, but honestly it feels like I’m just memorizing steps, processes, and characteristics without truly understanding what’s happening underneath. It's very tiring and boring... and can be easily forgot.

Things like:
governance structure
IPS creation
strategic vs tactical asset allocation
rebalancing approaches
factor tilts
ALM frameworks

all feel very conceptual and disconnected from reality to me. I can’t visualize how these decisions are made in practice.

Did anyone else feel this way while studying?

What helped you move from “memorizing CFA wording” to actually understanding the logic behind asset allocation decisions?

Also, for the actual exam:
Is conceptual intuition important?
Or is mastering the framework/process language enough to score well on essay questions?

Would appreciate advice from people who passed Level III without industry experience.
