I've been interested in FFXI for about a year now, but couldn't figure out how to set it up and wasn't really motivated enough to look up solutions.

Currently, the steam version is on sale for a ridiculously low price (about the equivalent of 5$), is the steam version generally easier to set up or is the onboarding experience identical to the version from the website?

Also, is there anything I should know before starting as someone whose only experience with MMO games is FF14?

I'm planning to get a security plus certificate between my second and third year in college, however I'm anxious about whether I should self study or go to a bootcamp (it's not exactly cheap to redo the test), if I do decide to self study, what book/s and or videos do you recommend? (My knowledge in networks is pretty surface level at the moment)
