How common are people with hiragana names in Japan these days?
By that, I mean people whose legal given or personal names are written in hiragana, not kanji. Someone like "田中みどり" rather than "田中緑". I know such examples exist and are not uncommon, and it's historically been associated with women, but how common are they these days? Is it still a primarily female thing, or have males with hiragana names also become more common in recent years? What about katakana names: are they only used for loanword names these days, or is, for example, someone having the legal name "高橋ケンタ" rather than "高橋健太" not unheard of nowadays? Historically, I know that some women had katakana names, but I'm talking more about the present day.
