Sourcing equipment for clubs and trying to break down barriers to entry.

Trying to get hurling going again in a football club for the first time in a couple decades. There’s an appetite for it, and people have generally been supportive, but one of the biggest issues we’re facing is the sheer cost of playing the game.

Helmets and hurls obviously being the big one, but grips, sliotars, etc., all add up.

People may say that if people aren’t willing to invest in a decent helmet and hurl, then they’ll never stick with it, which might be fair, but it’s very hard to convince parents from a non-hurling background to spend so much when football, etc., is so much more accessible and less of a financial burden.

I know there’s any number of reasons as to why the equipment costs what it does, but it’s very hard to encourage the game when you have to spend so much to do so.

I know plenty of other clubs have taken up hurling in the past few years- has anybody any advice as to how to source equipment?

The Hurling Starter Packs are great.

15 x Hurls
15 x Helmets
60 x Sliotars

We could still do with more, though.

Anybody any experience of trying to source gear and equipment for their club?
