Are domain registrars marking “Y” ending domains as premium by default?

Just found out that apparently adding a “Y” at the end of a domain name makes it a premium domain now 💀

Tried checking a few names on GoDaddy and the reason literally says:
“Y is a widely used keyword.”

Like what does that even mean 😭
Since when did one random alphabet become a premium keyword?

At this point every startup-style name ending with “ly”, “fy”, “sy”, “ty”, or “y” is getting marked premium with insane prices.

Is this actually based on demand/data or just registrar logic to inflate pricing?

I’m from Pune/Mumbai and have grown up here, so wanted some honest local advice from Indore people 😄

What things should I avoid there?
Any common scams, overpriced areas, auto/cab issues, or things tourists usually fall for?

Also:

  • Best food places to try 🍴
  • Safe areas to stay
  • Cafes / nightlife / street food recommendations
  • Places worth visiting nearby
  • Things that are overrated and should be skipped 😅

Would love recommendations from locals rather than Google articles 🙌

Hey everyone,

Need some advice / similar experiences here.

My uncle had a flight from Mumbai (BOM) to Muscat with IndiGo (ticket cost around ₹18K, booked via Cleartrip). At the airport, during immigration, he was stopped because of ECR (Emigration Check Required) status on his passport.

Because of this, he was not allowed to travel and couldn’t board the flight.

Airline only refunded around ₹2,000, which I guess is just taxes.

We had also taken travel insurance from IndusInd via Cleartrip, which includes Trip Cancellation (around $750 coverage).

Now the confusion is:

  • This wasn’t a voluntary cancellation
  • He was stopped by immigration (government authority)
  • But technically it’s also a documentation/ECR issue

So not sure:
👉 Will insurance consider this as “Trip Cancellation”
👉 Or reject saying “passenger was not eligible to travel”

Has anyone faced a similar situation?

  • Did your claim get approved or rejected?
  • Any tips on how to phrase the claim properly?

Would really appreciate real experiences 🙏
