PLEASE NO JUDGEMENTS
Around two weeks ago, I accessed CIS in a way I should not have.
Today, my Team Leader informed me that my system access has been revoked and that there will be a formal conversation afterwards. (She just said this she didn’t say anything else) She said she could not provide any further information at this stage.
I am still on probation and joined the Civil Service as an external candidate around five months ago. This was a one-off incident and I have never done anything like this before or since. I fully understand that I should not have accessed those accounts, and I take full responsibility for my actions.
There was no malicious intent whatsoever. It was purely poor judgement and curiosity. I randomly viewed CIS accounts of people from my local area, but I do not personally know any of them and there was no personal, financial, or harmful motive behind it.
I genuinely value this role, my team, and the working environment. This is the beginning of my career, and my Team Leader and colleagues have been incredibly supportive. I deeply regret my actions and understand the seriousness of breaching access rules and data protection expectations.
I know curiosity is not an excuse, and I accept accountability for my mistake. I am extremely anxious about what may happen next and would appreciate any advice from anyone who has experienced or witnessed a similar situation. Please no judgement
d that day i have never done anything like this before or after
