Buying vs renting

Hello all,

I know I’ve posted couple times about moving to yellowknife.

I’m looking for honest input here, is it worth it to buy a trailer/pre-fab house or just rent a townhome?

If I’m running my calculations correctly, my findings are below:

  • Renting is around $3500/month for townhouse or 2 bedroom place. In this I’m calculating utilities(hydro, water and heat).

  • Buying a trailer is coming around $2000(mortgage+property tax)/month. Obviously putting 20% down. Lets add average of $600 month of utilities(hydro, water and heat). So total is around $2600/month.

My fiancé and I are moving from Ottawa so we don’t know challenges/neighbourhood details about Yellowknife but just trying to understand if I should even consider it.

Any leads would be appreciated!

Thank you!

Northview

Hey, Im planning to move to Yellowknife soon, because of a dog im pretty limited when it comes to renting.

I recently viewed Lakeside court townhomes. I really liked the space so I just wanted to see if anyone has experience with this property.

Any Leeds would be appreciated.

Thanks!!
