Need advice for getting the back plate off of the rg40xxh.

My goodness this thing is hard to take off. My battery stops charging at 90 percent and the device turns off at 30, according to the OS. I had heard this sort of thing was common, and usually solved by unplugging the battery and plugging it back in.

The only two videos I could find showing disassembly skip past this step. I know you have to take out the screws, and then pry at the seam to pop the tabs open, but it is sooooo hard to do. I broke my plastic tool and chewed up the case pretty bad, which is annoying. I am planning to try again with a metal screwdriver but I am quite nervous about doing even more damage.

Most sources suggested sliding something along the seem from the edge, like taking off a bike tire. But based on what the internals look like I wonder if it is more like removing a laptop keyboard, where you have to push near the tabs specifically.

Any advice or links to resources would be very appreciated. I did spend several hours looking for info but have run out of leads.

Big gamer here, formerly of the PC master race. Half a year ago I decided to put some real money into a new PC, dropped 1300 dollars canadian after a bajillion hours of research. Aaaaaand everything on my new PC stutters. After six months of trying to fix it with no luck (even the local PC repair guy can't figure it out), I gave up on my hobby. Frankly, this was really depressing, and I was in a dark place for a while.

BUT THEN... late one night I was drinking sadly, surfing on my phone, and stumbled across a discussion about retro handhelds. My mind was blown. Two days later I bought the 40. And then two very impatient weeks later it finally arrived. Don't get me wrong, it suuuuucks that my computer is a very expensive fancy LED paperweight, and my hundreds of steam games are largely unplayable, buuuuut I am back to gaming and having fun.

It really is a great experience, and thanks to Anbernic for saving my mental health. For cheap, even. I am fairly poor so buying a steam deck or another computer is totally out of the question. I am so hyped on this thing.

TL;DR I will say, the battery is a bit odd, it dies at 30 percent charge. Probably just miscalibrated, will wait a week and then try unplugging the battery. What I need help with though, and yes I did google it first, is the dualshock emulation. Every darn PS1 game with analog support has about a fifty percent deadzone, and I cannot figure out how to fix this. Analog works great on every other system. Deadzone is set to 0.1, proper analog is on, dualshock is selected as the controller type.

For reference I am on 1.0.9. stock firmware, with the stock card, which is an unbranded one, but it seems to be working fine. It's not like I am short on games to play, but it would be nice to sort this out.
